ARTICLE l
Planning Board
[Adopted 3-23-1925 ATM, Art. 15]

§ 4.1.          Establishment.

        A Planning Board is elected for the town in accordance with MGL C. 41, §§ 70 through 72.


§ 4.2.          Reestablishment.

        The town voted to reestablish the existing Planning Board, now established under MGL C. 41,§70 under MGL C. 41 §81A, and the members of the Planning Board now in office shall serve as members of the Planning Board under §81A, with all the powers and duties allowed planning boards as detailed in MGL C.41 §§81A through 81GG, inclusive.


ARTICLE II
Regional School District Planning Board

§ 4-3.          Creation; membership.

        The town voted to create a special unpaid board to be known as a “Regional School District Planning Board,” to consist of three (3) members, including one (1) member of the School Committee, to be appointed by the Moderator in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 638, Acts of 1949, of the General Laws.


ARTICLE III
Conservation Commission
[Adopted 4-30-1962 STM, Art. 2]

§ 4-4.          Acceptance of authority.

        The town voted to accept the provisions of MGL C.40, §8C, authorizing the Board of Selectmen to appoint a Conservation Commission, and the provisions of MGL C.40, §5, clause (51), providing for the operation and maintenance of said Conservation Commission.



§ 4-5.          Appointment.

        The Board of Selectmen is hereby directed, within thirty (30) days of the acceptance of this Article by vote of the Town meeting, to appoint a Conservation Commission composed of seven (7) members.


§ 4-6.          Establishment of fund.

        The Conservation Commission so established is hereby authorized to expend the sum of fifty dollars ($50.) for the purpose of the law, said sum being hereby appropriated to the Conservation Fund, which is hereby established.


ARTICLE IV
Historical Commission

§ 4-7.          Establishment; duties; membership.

        The town established, under the provisions of MGL C 40, §8D, an Historical Commission of the Town of Great Barrington, for the purposes and with the rights and duties provided by law, to be composed of seven (7) members appointed by the Board of Selectmen for terms of three (3) years, except the initial appointments shall be two (2) members for one (1) year, two (2) members for two (2) years and three (3) members for three (3) years.
