Editor's Note: The most recent Zoning Bylaw carried the following historical background, with internal numbering changed to reflect the codified text appearing herein:
"The town apparently had zoning bylaws as early as 1931. The Zoning Bylaws as adopted July 27, 1960, were published in a red booklet, including amendments as voted April 6, 1964, June 7, 1965, and November 15, 1965. Revisions were also made June 10, 1974.
"Major amendments to the Zoning Bylaws were adopted at a Special Town Meeting June 12, 1978, and it is this date referred to throughout this chapter as the date of adoption.
"Other recent changes were adopted as follows: changes to ~ 171-16G(6) on Sept. 15, 1980; changes to ~ 171-16G(9) and footnote3 of ~ 171-18B Sept. 3, 1981;
"Changes to ~ 171-7B on July 28, 1982, adding a new section 93.235 on the same date; change in the wording of ~ 171-74G(1) on May 2, 1983; changes to Article XI in 1984;
"Changes to entire Article X were made on May 6, 1985; addition of Article XVI was voted on Sept. 9, 1985, to replace 141.00 PURD and 142.00 Cluster Development and 150.00, 151.00 and 152.10; changes to ~ 171-18A(2), (3), (5), (8) and (9).
"Changes were made to ~~ 171-9D, 171-18A(4), C(8) and G(1), 171-36, 171-37 and 171-65; addition of new ~ 171-69, Tourist Homes for Transient Guests, and ~ 171-70, Satellite Television Antennas, at Annual Town Meeting May 5, 1986.
"The bylaws were revised May 11, 1987, with changes made in ~~ 171-5, 171-6B, a new 171-9B(3), 171-16, 171-18, 171-26. 171-73E and a new 171-74I and J. The zoning map was also revised to incorporate a B-2A or Transitional District."
