Daren Carlson of Carlson Wood Floors likes to keep the floors at the Housy Dome in tip-top condition for the Housatonic Youth Basketball league.

Just recently, Carlson donated his time to refinish the court floors to a fine gleam. It's a job he's done to support the basketball league for at least 10 years, at no charge to the town.

And, as an added bonus, he added pickleball court lines to the flooring, so that pickleball players can finally bring their game to an indoor, town-owned court in Housatonic.

The town is finalizing an online sign-up system for pickleball games, which will be available at no charge to town residents. Details are forthcoming soon from the town's Parks and Recreation Department, said Karen Smith, chair of the town Parks and Recreation Commission.

Meanwhile, Housatonic Youth Basketball is well underway with regular practices and games at the Dome at the corner of Pleasant and Main.

Town Public Works Superintendent Joe Aberdale said Carlson's generosity keeps the floors in tip-top condition for the basketball league, "and in turn has also preserved the town's asset at no cost to taxpayers. We are grateful to Daren and Carlson Wood Floors."
