Board of Health: Vaccine Resources in South County

The Great Barrington Board of Health wishes to update residents on the local availability of first-time Covid-19 vaccines and “additional shots” for immunocompromised people.

Fairview Hospital and Community Health Programs (CHP) Mobile Health Unit are providing Covid-19 vaccines by appointment and walk-ins are also welcome.

Fairview offers vaccines Monday-Friday, at 29 Lewis Ave. Appointments can be made by calling (855) 262-5465 ext. 2, or walk-in. Fairview offers the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines Monday-Friday. On Fridays the Moderna vaccine is also available.

CHP’s Mobile Health Unit is on the road during the week visiting various Berkshire locations, including on site at the Great Barrington Health Center, 444 Stockbridge Road. Patients may walk-in or make an appointment by calling (413) 528-0457. All three vaccination options are available.

Fairview and the CHP Mobile Health Unit each provide additional vaccines to people who meet the following guidelines. Those eligible for the additional vaccine dose must meet the following criteria:

  • Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
  • Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection
  • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response

People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for them.
