Future of the Ramsdell Library

Preserve the Past- Inspire the Future: Zoom Presentation on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30 pm
Library

On Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p,m. on Zoom the Great Barrington Libraries will host a presentation to discuss a future vision for the Ramsdell Library in Housatonic.

Leading this interactive community engagement will be a women-owned and nationally recognized architectural firm from Boston, designLAB architects.

"Re-Imagine Ramsdell" is a community-driven approach supported by Library Director Dawn Jardine, Trustees and Friends of the Library.

The community’s response will create the “big picture” framework necessary to guide this state library building grant forward.

Ramsdell Library opened in 1908 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. The last significant renovation was nearly 100 years ago.

To meet the needs of the town as a community gathering space, Ramsdell will need to be brought up to 21st century building standards. This is an opportunity for your voices to he
heard.

"This grant represents an exciting opportunity for Ramsdell to realize its potential as a hub of activity not only for Housatonic, but for Great Barrington in general. I'm looking forward to
hearing everyone's thoughts and ideas about what Ramsdell's unique personality is, and how it can add to the quality of life in our community for generations to come," said Dawn Jardine Great Barrington Library Director
