While snow, sleet and rain might slow things down a bit, the town Department of Public Works is getting started on its spring work season.

Set to begin this week: reconstruction of the retaining wall at Mahaiwe Cemetery on South Main Street. This will involve shifting traffic lanes to the east, away from the cemetery, to make room for work and personnel. Pedestrian traffic will also shift to the east side of the road.

Depending on the weather, the work will take about four months to complete.

In addition, improvements at Lake Mansfield are now under way, and Lake Mansfield Road around the lake and park are closed.
