Two contests will greet voters at next week's Annual Town Election, Tuesday May 9. There is also a ballot question asking voter approval to borrow money for expenditures okayed by the Annual Town Meeting.

The polls are open 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. at the Great Barrington Fire Department on State Road for residents of the downtown area and at the Housatonic Community Center for residents of Housatonic.

With the retirement of Selectboard member Ed Abrahams, two are vying for his three-year term: Sharon Gregory and Benjamin Elliott. Another three-way contest appears for two Library Trustee positions: John Breasted, Sandra Patorno and Robert M. Shaeffer are all running for open seats.

There are no other contests for seats on the Board of Health, Finance Committee, Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Board and Housing Authority. Moderator Michael Wise is running unopposed for re-election.

The ballot question asks voters to authorize borrowing for a number of capital projects that were approved at the May 1 Annual Town Meeting.2023 specimen ballot
