Free Bulky Waste Collection Day Announced
The Town of Great Barrington Department of Public Works will accept bulky waste free of charge from the residents of Housatonic and Great Barrington at the Recycling Center at 601 Stockbridge Road Saturday, September 30,2023 from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Bulky Waste from Businesses will not be accepted.
Accepted Disposal items include:
Furniture: Wooden/Plastic items such as tables, chairs, bookcases; rugs, window and door frames, windows, doors, screens, scrap metal, broken down cardboard boxes and newspapers.
Items that WILL NOT be accepted include:
- Mattresses and Boxsprings++
- Couches, sofas, loveseat, upholstered armchairs and recliners++
- Demolition debris++
- Household trash
- White goods (washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc.)++
- CRT’s (computer screens and televisions)++
- Household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, toasters++
- Tires and auto batteries++
- Yard waste - not accepted at the transfer station at anytime
- Household hazardous waste - only accepted on "special" collection days
++Permits for the disposal of the items listed above will need to be purchased
at the Town Clerk’s office at the Town Hall.
