GB Announces Winter Parking Changes for Shopping Season and Winter Months

The coming winter months bring changes to parking regulations in downtown Great Barrington.

From Nov. 26-Dec. 31, the town will suspend daytime parking time limits downtown. This change brings more flexible parking to encourage downtown shopping and dining during the holiday season.

The town also reminds residents of the overnight ban of on-street parking, from Nov. 15-March 31, 2022, between 1 and 6 a.m. Any vehicles parked on the street during 1 and 6 a.m are subject to towing and ticketing.

The town's designated off-street winter parking lots are located at the top of Castle and Railroad Streets (24 hour limit), and at Town Hall and at the Mason Library (vehicles must be moved by 8 a.m.). In Housatonic, residents may park at the Housatonic Community Center, close to the building to permit passage by snow plows, with a 24-hour limit.

In addition, the town now permits 8-hour daytime parking spaces at the north end of Main Street, between Cottage Street and the red bridge at Routes 7 and 41.

These 8-hour spaces, on the northbound and southbound sides of the street, will be a permanent, year-round designation.
