GB Receives State Grant to Improve Route 23 Near Monterey Town Line

The state Department of Transportation will provide $385,000 for improvements to a improve a half-mile section of Route 23 near the Monterey town line.
The project will take place during the 2023 construction season, which is shaping up with infrastructure projects throughout town.
"This is a sizable grant for an important project that's among many happening around town during the coming construction season," said Joe Aberdale, the town's superintendent of public works.
His department will announce additional projects in coming weeks, as spring construction season approaches.
The Route 23 work includes repaving, drainage, lane markings, guardrail and erosion controls on the east-west route connecting Great Barrington points east.
