The Selectboard has selected WDM Properties as the developer of the former Housatonic School.

The North Adams-based developer has proposed 10 two-bedroom rental apartments in the building.

The board voted 4-1 to approve WDM’s proposal.

Assistant Town Manager and Director of Planning and Community Development Christopher Rembold said the next step in the process is to draft a purchase and sale agreement with WDM Properties.

"We are glad to have moved this process forward toward reviving the former school as much-needed housing," Selectboard Chair Stephen Bannon. "We appreciate the efforts of both prospective developers and the input we have received from the Housatonic community."
