GB Sets March 1 Public Hearing on FY2023 Budget

press release logo Following four budget planning sessions in February, the Selectboard and Finance voted to send the town's FY2023 operating budget to a March 1 public hearing.

At the March 1 hearing, at 6 p.m. via Zoom, the Selectboard and Finance Committee will formally vote to send the town's operating and capital expense budget to the Annual Town Meeting in June. The March 1 vote will also include the town's assessment to the Berkshire Hills Regional School District.

During budget planning sessions in February, proposed budgets from town departments were only slightly adjusted. The FY2023 spending proposal includes:

  • $13.67 million for general town operations, up 5.5 percent over 2022;
  • $5.738 million in town capital expenditures, including roads and bridge improvements, accessibility improvements at Ramsdell Library, redesign of the Town Hall campus and routine vehicle and equipment purchases;
  • $18.94 million for the Berkshire Hills Regional School District, up 2.79 percent over the current year.

The Annual Town Meeting is set for Monday, June 6 and Thursday, June 9 (if a second night is needed to complete business). Both evenings the meeting will convene at 6 p.m. Monument Mountain Regional High School.

The March 1 public hearing is open to all. Meeting details and the Zoom login link can be found here on the town calendar.
