Great Barrington Police Department Welcomes New Officer

Brad Lupiani

Bradley D. Lupiani of Great Barrington has been appointed as a patrol officer with the Great Barrington Police Department.

A 2015 graduate of Mount Everett Regional High School, Officer Lupiani is now completing his senior year at Western New England University, where he is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He graduated from Massachusetts Municipal Police Academy in August and joined the police department full-time on Aug. 15.

“We are so pleased to have Officer Lupiani with our police force and look forward to his contributions to our community,” said Chief William R. Walsh Jr.

Lupiani had worked as a special police officer for the town from August 2017 through March 2019, when he entered the police academy. He graduated from the program in August and soon assumed his full-time position.

"When I first was thinking about a police career, I saw how officers in town were responding to issues and I enjoyed learning from their stories," said Lupiani. "I thought it would be a good career path for me -- I am a pretty friendly and fair guy, and I think a police officer should have those traits to do the job well. And, of course, helping people is why everyone gets into this work."
