Marie Ryan Appointed to Great Barrington Housing Authority

​Former Town Clerk Marie Ryan has been appointed to the Great Barrington Housing Authority (GBHA) by Gov. Charles Baker​'s administration.​
 

Ryan, a Great Barrington resident and now the town administrator in West Stockbridge, will fill a housing authority seat previously held by Diane Dillon. Dillon has moved to Stockbridge and town residency is required of Housing Authority members.

Four of the five GBHA seats are elected positions, but one is appointed by the governor and the state Department of Housing and Community Development ​(DHCD)​. Dillon held that appointed role.

​DHCD Undersecretary Janelle Chan noted in her appointment letter that Ryan was selected "to represent the administration's interests and policies" on the GBHA.​

On Monday, the Selectboard will act to fill one other vacant position on the Housing Authority. That seat has been vacant for several years. 

Several applicants have applied for the vacancy. The appointee will fill out an unexpired term on the board and will be required to run ​for re-election ​​in the May 2020 town election​.

Ryan will assume her new role effective immediately.
