Spiffing up GB Streets

Our Public Works and Highway Departments are making the most of spring weather as key road projects get under way. So if you find yourself passing through a construction area, off a shout-out to our highway crews!

Rainbow crosswalks and other crosswalks throughout town are getting new coats of paint while the sun shines, at intersections downtown and in Housatonic. 

Paving and other improvements are getting under way on Commonwealth, Stillwell and Cooper streets, as part of wider road improvement work around town that will last through the summer.

Work also begins on a $3.7 million upgrade to sewer pump stations throughout town, near Cone Avenue in Housatonic and on South Main Street downtown near the Claire Teague Senior Center and the Great Barrington Fairgrounds.
