Spring Construction Getting Underway on Downtown Great Barrington Streets

As spring approaches, construction improvements to roads, sidewalk and other work in downtown areas are now getting underway in the areas of Church, School and Elm Streets. Work will be complete by June 30.

The Town’s contractor for this project is Northern Construction Company. The 2019 Downtown Streets Project includes the following locations:

  •         Bridge Street, from Main Street to the river
  •         Church Street
  •         School Street
  •         Elm Street
  •         Railroad Street including the upper parking lot

The work includes new sidewalks, new drainage in some places, new curbs, and repaving. New trees will be planted, and on Railroad Street, new lights will be installed.

Work will take place 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, unless otherwise authorized by the Town. No work will occur during the Berkshire International Film Festival, May 30-June 2. In addition, no work will occur on Patriot’s Day or Memorial Day.
